Program Description:

The city of Athens holds some of the most celebrated history in the world. Athens is inextricably tied to Greek mythology and home to many of the world’s remaining ancient sites. This captivating capital of Greece is home to 4.5 million people and is the birthplace of democracy. Today, Athens is a sprawling metropolis blending the ancient with the modern. Whether you are drawn to exploring the Acropolis or enjoying a leisurely frappe in chic Kolonaki, Athens offers something for everyone.

Affordable and lively, Athens is a city of many facets, ideal for young people who would like to experience the broad range of activities that it has to offer. Visits to archaeological sites and beaches, and day trips to nearby islands and quaint towns — you can do it all here! Athens is also famous, more than any other European capital, for its nightlife. Tavernas, cafes, clubs and bars stay open late as Athenians know how to relax and have fun well into the dawn.

The American College of Greece was originally founded in Smyrna, Asia Minor by missionaries from Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1875. ACG is the oldest and largest U.S. accredited college or university in Europe. For more than 135 years, The American College of Greece has served as a pioneering agent of globalization, cultivating a fertile intellectual and cultural collaboration between Greece and the United States.

Today, the American College of Greece operates a high school called PIERCE, an undergraduate and graduate school called DEREE and ALBA Graduate Business School. ACG is home to nearly 4,000 students from 55 different countries. ACG offers a comprehensive program spanning secondary, undergraduate, graduate and continuing education on a breathtaking 64-acre campus in the quiet Athens suburb of Aghia Paraskevi. ACG also has a satellite campus in the bustling center of Athens. ACG is the oldest and largest college accredited by The New England Association of Colleges and Schools. The college is therefore justifiably proud of its more than 33,000 accomplished alumni living in Greece, the United States and around the world.

DEREE – The American College of Greece offers more than 21 majors, 32 minors, and over 1,000 courses each academic year, DEREE provides you with plenty of courses to choose from in business, fine arts, humanities, social sciences, and communication.
