International Opportunities Fair: Passport Day

IO Fair CariSofia IO fair

Wednesday, January 22, 11 A.M. – 4 P.M.
Location: Maucker Union Ballroom

This is the "one stop shop" event to learn about International Opportunities. It is your chance to explore study, work, intern, and volunteer opportunities abroad. There will also be a variety of booths staffed with individuals to answer your questions about credit transfer, health concerns, international travel, and even booths to get your photo taken for a passport. Bring questions because this is your opportunity to talk to past participants for all programs! If you are interested in participating as an exhibitor, please fill our Registration Form on link attached and fax to our office.

Apply for or Renew your U.S. Passport
Come to the fair to Apply/Renew your U.S. Passport. Below are the items you will need if you are a first time applicant for a U.S. passport and for passport renewal.

For applying for a U.S. passport, you will need the following:
  • A completed DS-11 Form, which you may fill out prior to Passport Day and bring with. Otherwise, the Black Hawk Recorder's Office will bring blank forms.
  • A certified copy of the applicant's birth certificate. (It should include the applicant's parents' birth names and have a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed, or multicolored seal).
  • A photocopy of BOTH the front and back sides of the applicant's driver's license.
  • A passport photo (2" x 2" with a white or light gray background).
  • Fees for applying for a U.S. passport as as follows:
    • The passport costs $110.00 and must be paid by check or money order to the U.S. Dept of State.
    • Processing fee of $25 for the application paid by check or cash to the Black Hawk County Recorder.
    • If Humble Travel provides free photos, the Black Hawk County Recorder's Office will waive their usual $10.00 for the photo.
For U.S. passport renewal, you will need the following:
  • A completed DS-11 Form or a DS-82 form, which you may fill out prior to Passport Day and bring with. Otherwise, the Black Hawk Recorder's Office will bring blank forms.
    • If an applicant completes the DS-11 form for renewing a passport, the process and fees are exactly the same as explained previously, EXCEPT bullet #2 listed.
    • If a student wants a passport renewal, and they were 15 years or younger when they were issued their passport, they must bring their birth certificate and their passport.
  • The applicant will need to bring their passport. It will be included and sent with their application. An expired or current passport can be used instead of a birth certificate to prove their U.S. citizenship.
  • A photocopy of BOTH the front and back sides of the applicant's driver's license.
  • A passport photo (2" x 2" with a white or light gray background).
  • The fees for a passport renewal depend on which form you use. They are as follows:
    • DS-11 Form:
      • Fee for Passport Renewal of $110.00 which must be paid by check or money order to the U.S. Dept of State.
      • Processing fee of $25 for the application paid by check or cash to the Black Hawk County Recorder.
    • DS-82 Form
      • Fee for Passport Renewal of $110.00 which must be paid by check or money order to the U.S. Dept of State.
      • Applicants are responsible for mailing their own applications with the all the appropriate fees and documents
